description:
Born to a family of obscure Bavarian nobles,
Alfred Edward von Kramer was always known for his unflappable manner,
and cheerful disposition. At the outbreak of WWI he joined the Special
Services as a stand up comic, doing brutal impressions of famous Allied
aviators for front line troops. A clerical error in 1917 saw him
mistakenly transferred to prestigious Jasta 5 where in the space of a
week he set a unit record for crashing 5 D.IIs on 5 straight sorties.
However on the 5th sortie he mistook a country road for his home
aerodrome and landed on top of an automobile carrying General Adolphus
Moutarde, who was out surveying his lines. Alfred survived. Moutarde did
not. With their commander dead, the French XXXX corps’ morale sank and
they mutinied; which stalled a major Allied offensive. For his
fortuitous bad piloting he received an immediate discharge, and the
Orden Pour le Merite. It’s rumored that after WWII he changed his name
to Alfredo Kleinman and was briefly Air Vice Marshall of the Argentinean
Air Force…before moving to America and starting a humor magazine in
the 1950’s under the name "Neuman".
The man behind the keyboard:
I currently reside in the woods of northern Westchester County, New York
with my beloved wife and young son. I’m a complete history freak with
an acute passion for all things military, especially the minutia of the
World Wars. I’ve been flying combat sims since the early 80’s, with
all those lovely Microprose titles on my C64. I eventually graduated to
an Amiga (anyone remember Cinemaware’s "Wings"?), and later
ro a PC where I started playing a lot of Dynamix titles (all the Aces
series)including Red Baron. While my multiplayer flight sim experience
is limited, my eagerness to become a credit to my Jasta and a friend to
my comrades isn't.
When I’m not at the Fliegerschule or Bierstube,
I’m usually writing, reading, filming some gibberish, or playing
hockey.

Carl
Eduard Medal
As
a military award, the Oval Silver Duke Carl Eduard Medal with Crown and
Sword Clasp, may be included in the same category as the Prussian Iron
Cross, as it was awarded without regard to rank. However, there were
other limitations that made the award much rarer. Among them, the
recipient was to have already received the Iron Cross 1st Class and
whichever grade of the Ducal Saxe-Ernestine House Order, Merit Cross or
Merit Medals he would have been eligible for based on his rank. These
requirements were occasionally waived, however (the medal's most famous
recipient, the Red Baron, Manfred Freiherr von Richtofen, had no special
connection to Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and had not yet received the Ducal Saxe-Ernestine
House Order when he was decorated with it).
Awarded in
recognition of your to the Jasta in providing communications and server
resources. |

Wilhelm
Ernst War Cross
Grand
Duke Wilhelm Ernst founded the Wilhelm Ernst War Cross on June 10, 1915.
It was awarded without regard to rank, but otherwise had strict
requirements: the recipient must have already received the Iron Cross
1st Class.
Awarded
in
recognition of your generosity in service and resources to command HQ
which significantly benefit all of the Jagdstaffel.

(Cup of Honour)
A
special award given from the Rittmeister himself, the Ehrenbecher was
designed by Manfred von Richthofen. This award is to be
ceremoniously given to each pilot that scores his first kill.
Awarded
in recognition for the first confirmed aerial victory
in RBWL VIII.

Iron
Cross 2nd Class
The
Iron Cross was awarded in three Classes: the Grand Cross ("Grosskreuz")
for senior commanders (only 5 awarded), 2nd Class for individual merit
in combat (5 million), and the 1st Class for acts of heroism or bravery
in combat (1 million). The Eisernes Kreuz all looked the same,
it's where you wore them that told the difference: Grand Cross
around the neck, 1st Class pinned to the left side of the tunic about
two inches above the belt, and for the 2nd Class, you merely wore the
ribbon looped through the second button hole in the front of the
uniform. The Iron Cross has the distinction of being one of the
few Prussian awards handed out to both officers and enlisted men equally
- probably because of it's long history as an award for valor. The Iron
Cross, 2nd Class, usually came after a few successful missions (for
2-seater pilots) or the first few "kills" for a Kampflieger.
Awarded
in recognition for your second aerial victory during RBWL
VIII.
