Improved Graphics in ROF

Unread post by J5_Vorlander » 30 Jan 2014, 07:25

Salute Jagdstaffel 5,

Some of you know about this but I'm sure that most will love to install the following mods for ROF.

1. FUBAR's new landscape textures - Works MODS OFF

http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic ... 12&t=38444

download

http://www.mediafire.com/download/1ydf5 ... apemod.zip

2. Ankor85 terrain bump mapping - MODS OFF (Jan 27)

http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic ... 78&t=39593

Both these mods needs to be enabled with PWCG by Pat Wilson.

Important!!!!! when you enable the mods in PWCG you must enable Landscape textures first ---- then ------ Bump mapping or els it will not work correctly.

The results are amazing.

No Worries I plan on checking them out but I recently put a GTX 680 card in my system and went HDMI on my 42 inch monitor. I'm just curious as to how these mods look...Thanks to for posting some pics. Salute!

I believe using MODS ON is only possible for single player and MODS OFF is for multiplayer...so pilots wanting to see these benefits will want to be sure to select the MODS OFF file for multiplayer. Sheesh, this game is beginning to be like the old Red Baron was... patches etc. On the bright side, that means there is a healthy, vibrant and growing community active in creating 3rd party stuff for it!

Also, where do you unzip it to? As with most "patches" the designer never provides simple, detailed, accurate instructions. They simply assume everyone in the community 'knows' everything they know.

Do we unzip the 'data' folder that the patch comes as into the Mods folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\777\Rise of Flight\MODS

or

Do we unzip the patch files found in the "bin" folder ( Terrain Bump (Mods OFF, Jan27).zip\data\graphics\shaders\trash\bin - ZIP archive, unpacked size 740,848 bytes)
here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\777\Rise of Flight\graphics\shaders\trash\bin

We don't know.

With my own experience and knowledge however, I believe it will be the second option. Who knows this for sure?
Prosit!

Can someone post some more detailed instructions on how to get the landscape mod to work in multiplayer? I installed it in mods folder and acticated it with jsmg. But it does only work in Mods on mode for me. I would be thankful for any advices.
