I had always heard that Tarawa was the toughest blitz that the Marines carried out in WW2.When I saw this book on Amazon I had to pick it up.I agree with all of the reviews on Amazon the book is great.
Fascinatingly, the only flim to capture Marines and Japanese Soldiers in the same frame during the entire war was taken by a combat photographer at Tarawa.You can see it at 8:38 here:
